A Paris Vintage Journey

Thanks for visiting my blog!  Today I am sharing a piece I made for the new challenge blog A Vintage Journey.  I was so honored to be invited to be a guest designer for this fantastic new Tim Holtz style blog and to join in The Vintage Journey with all the uber talented designers!

I’m so excited to be able to share my Springtime in Paris project with you today. When I was given the challenge theme of Paris, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to really delve into a springtime in Paris motiff. My design intent was to make a triptych but in the end, when I had all my embellishments made and laid out, I just couldn’t squeeze them into three panels and ended up with a quadriptych.

Today I am also taking part in a blog hop to benefit a little 2-year old girl, the granddaughter of Linda Payne, whom I was on a design team with in the past.  Lauryn was diagnosed with leukemia.  I am holding a silent auction for this piece.  Whatever it sells for, I will match the price and donate the entire amount to the family to help defray expenses connected with Lauryn's illness.  I have comment moderation enabled and if you would like to make a bid, please leave it in the comments section.  The minimum bid is $15 and I will contact the winner about payment and shipping. (NOTE:  The silent auction is now closed - the piece sold for $30).

I started by cutting my panels with the Postage Stamp die. The first panel is white card stock and was embossed with a brick wall texture fade. I created a rusty trellis with chipboard embossed with Vintage Photo distress embossing powder. The ivy was cut with the new Spring Greenery decorative strip die, colored with Bundled Sage and stamped with the postage seal stamp from the Paris to London set. I created the Paris seal with a vintage download from the internet and covered it with a clear epoxy seal.
Panel two was also a piece of white card stock stamped with the new Distress Damask stamp set, embossed with Winter White embossing powder and sponged with Vintage Photo. I used some wonderful vintage ephemera from the Thrift Shop pack and added a couple of lovely metal embellies from the Adornments - Nature collection. I also downloaded the vintage rose image from the internet and created another epoxy seal.
Panel three was another piece of white card stock, this time stamped with the background stamp from Papillon. Embossing was added using the Harlequin stencil and Wendy Vecchi’s black embossing paste. A tag was created using a stamp from the Mini Classics set stamped in Vermillion archival ink and sponged with Frayed Burlap. The crinkled seam binding bow was dyed with Stormy Sky and an Eiffel Tower charm was added.
Panel four is an aluminium sheet embossed with the a texture fade which was then painted with Pitch Black acrylic paint, partially dried and then the paint was wiped off. I added a post card from the Thrift Shop pack and made a little envelope, sponged with Stormy Sky DI and stamped with the postage seal stamp from Paris to London.

My flowers were all cut from white card stock using the Tattered Flowers decorative strip die. The CS was colored with a mix of Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick distress stains. They were then misted with water, scrunched up, dried and carefully unfurled. Each petal was then sponged with Vintage Photo DI and I added self adhesive rhinestones as centres.

There you have it. I had a wonderful time playing with all the wonderful Tim Holtz products while creating this piece. I hope you like my tribute to Paris in the springtime. Thank so much to the design team of A Vintage Journey for inviting me to be their guest designer for ‘A Little Bit French’ challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I have a list of products used below which are available at my store The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Linda...I am just returning from being out of the country for a week.; thus the delay in this comment. Your French inspired piece for A Vintage Journey is absolutely gorgeous. Each of the four panels has so much technique and beauty packed into it. I love each of them. Your work is always so masterfully done with such a feminine vintage feel. Thanks for sharing your talent with everyone...especially as a guest designer at A Vintage Journey! Love, Candy
