Happy 4th of July

I love our summer patriotic holidays and always make some sort of tribute. This year I have used the wonderful Hero plate from Artistic Outpost to create a tag to wish all my American friends a happy 4th of July.

I started with a jumbo manila tag and inked up my stamps with Picket Fence Distress Paint.  I stamped the flag stamp in the upper right and lower left quadrants and then repeatedly stamped Hero on the diagonal. Then the tag was sponged randomly with Faded Jeans and Barn Door distress inks.

The other images were stamped with Coffee archival ink and I used stars and rosettes as my embellishments.  And that's it - a very simple tag but it was fun making it.  I really like the way sponging over Distress Paint stamping looks (be sure to clean your stamp right away).
Thanks so much for stopping by.  My supplies used are listed below - don't forget, there is a 10% off coupon available to shop at The Funkie Junkie Boutique this week.  Use coupon code 10off.

10% Off at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

Hi friends, hope your weekend is off to a great start! I just wanted to give you a quick Funkie Junkie Boutique update.  We are currently having a 10% off sale using coupon code 10off.  The coupon code is good through July 7th.  On July 8th, I am temporarily closing the boutique through July 16th to take a little vacation time.  Since I'm a little one-woman boutique, there is no one to process orders when I take time off.  I hope that won't cause anyone inconvenience, but please stock up in advance with your 10% off coupon.  And don't forget, most name brand items are already discounted 20% so now you can shop at 30% off - what a great deal!

Got My Wendy On!

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I am kicking off another great challenge over on the Frilly and Funkie Blog inspired by Wendy Vecchi's wonderful style.  I'm so excited that I have recently been able to expand the Wendy Vecchi/Studio 490 selection of products over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Unfortunately right now, we are totally sold out of her cool Embossing Paste, but not to worry as lots more is on order and we will soon be restocked!

So for my piece this week, I broke out a couple of packs of Art Parts - Flower Parts and Scallop Trim.  Using Art Parts is new to me and I had to play around a bit, but I think they came out okay.  I used Antique Linen Distress Paint to give them their base color and had to use two coats to be happy with the coverage.  I inked the edges with Walnut Stain DI and then stamped the polka dots from It's All About Art in coffee archival.  The large flower had the same treatment and was then stamped with the background stamp from Heirloom Art also in coffee archival.

The tag is one of the non-branded jumbo tags I sell in the boutique.  I first stamped it in Jet Black archival with the ledger stamp from A Form of Art, then stamped the leaves from Nature's Art.  The flower from Daisy Art was stamped with Picket Fence Distress Paint and when dry, the entire tag was then sponged with Vintage Photo DI and edged with Walnut Stain DI.  I finished it off with one of the cool silver tone buttons, also from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Again, thanks so much for stopping by and double thanks if you left a comment.  All the supplies used are listed below with links to their listing in The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Birds and Nests Revisited

Hello friends, I'm back today with the tag I shared yesterday at Frilly and Funkie for the Funkie side of the Birds and Nests challenge.  Obviously this is also my submission for Tim Holtz's June tag, made according to his techniques for the month.  I really enjoyed getting my distress markers out and playing around with watercoloring.  If you want the details on how this tag was made, just visit Tim Holtz and follow the steps for his June tag.  I pretty much followed him step by step, just changing the stamps and the colors used.  I couldn't resist adding a little flower cut with the Tattered Flowers Decorative Strip die.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you will stop by Frilly and Funkie to see the amazing pieces my DT has offered for Donna's Birds and Nests challenge.

Summer Nostalgia

Hi there, how about some ice cream, the good old fashioned hand-churned kind.  Sound yummy?  What a great way to cool down a hot summer day.

Our Artistic Outpost blog hop theme this month is Americana and doesn't this ice cream image just bring back old memories?  Before I get started on the deets, here is the hop line-up so you can check out the rest of the team's Americana makes:

                       * Gerrie * Lisa * Suzanne * Tracy * Alison * Terry * Kate *

I love the theme - there were so many ideas swimming around my brain on how to approach it but the ice cream churn from Kudzu Kafe won out.  I used the ticking stamp with Vermillion archival ink to stamp the background and created my ice cream parlor awning by cutting a white strip and a red strip with scalloped decorative scissors, cutting the strips apart and gluing them back together alternating the colors.  The 10 cents and the Healing Tonic stamps plus the label stamp are from Apothecary and Life is Good is from Typography.

I made the ice cream spoon by downloading a picture of one from the internet, resizing it and printing it out on card stock then trimming it out.  The sleeve is one of the little glassine bags I use to package small items in my boutique.  I created the lettering on my computer, taped the glassine bag to a piece of computer paper and ran it through my printer.  I ended up doing it a couple of times before I got it printed in just the right spot, adjusting it each time.  I was really pleased with the way it came out.

There you go.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you go have an ice cream and cool off on this hot summer day!
